Back to the Coast
It was hard to tear ourselves away from Portland but the cooler coast was calling. Yum drove us out of Portland where we started riding out to the coast. We enjoyed a cooler evening beside a river and enjoyed dinner supplemented with yummy veggies from Pep's garden. The love continued. The next day we hit the coast near Tillamook and camped at Cape Lookout State Park. Even though the temps had dropped and it was foggy at the beach, the water called me. I finally made it into the Pacific Ocean! It was chilly but wonderful. Continuing down the coast we came to Pacific City. Our sights were set on Pelican Pub and brewery, highly recommended by our favority guide book. (Breweries of the West Coast) We spent several hours in the beach town watching a surfing competition and enjoying the beach. Our ride continued on the Old Highway 101 where we were lucky to find an idyllic stealth camping spot along a creek. It was quiet and peaceful. If we would have had more supplies we may have stayed for several days but regular feedings are required so it was on to Newport where we are currently. Newport is a charming beach community where we enjoyed a hotel room for the night. Laundry, showers, the internet and the Rogue Brewery have kept us busy here. We are loving the Oregon Coast.
